Ventura College has been providing high quality preschool education and child care services to the College and surrounding community since 1976. In addition, the program serves as a model and laboratory for college students preparing for careers in the field of early childhood education.
The core of the program’s philosophy is belief in the importance of active, hands-on learning for young children and the understanding that the preschool years are a critical time for brain development; both ideas that have been verified through research. The program strives to nurture the whole child, providing a rich environment with a wide variety of activities designed to foster children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. Emphasis is placed on providing a positive first school experience as the first step toward a lifelong love of learning.
In order to meet the varying needs of the families served a variety of programs are offered, including a program for 2-year-olds, a traditional preschool program and a family co-op preschool program. The Center offers a flexible scheduling policy, with children able to attend anywhere from 8:30 – 11:30 am, 2 mornings per week all the way to 7:45 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Classrooms are available for children who are not yet toilet trained. The Center is licensed by the California Department of Social Services, facility #561711563 and #561711564.
The Center welcomes Ventura College student, faculty, staff and community families – please call or e-mail director Robin Douglas at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to schedule a tour.
