Volunteer at local schools to help elementary school students improve their reading comprehension!

My name is Rachel Drobot and I am a volunteer recruiter for the non-profit Partners in Education. It is my job to find volunteers for classrooms on the east side of Santa Barbara. Currently, I have requests from teachers of classrooms grades 1-4 at Franklin, Cleveland, and Roosevelt Elementary Schools are looking for volunteers to help students with their reading comprehension. Many of these students are English learners and are at risk of falling behind in school if they don’t make progress now. Due to budget cuts in schools, teachers must accommodate more students in their classroom and there are fewer resources for classroom aides.

Additionally, the librarian at Cleveland Elementary School needs assistance in her library with checking books in and out, making bulletin boards, etc.

Volunteers are needed during school hours (weekdays 8am-3pm). Most current volunteers help 1-2 hours a couple times a week.

Please contact Rachel by email at volunteer-eastsb@sbceo.org or by phone (805) 965-4710 x 4414
