Hi Garden Friends and Happy New Year!
We invite you to make a New Year's Resolution to give back to the community in some way this year. One of the ways you can do that is to participate more fully as a volunteer at Community Roots. We love occasional volunteers, but we especially love ongoing volunteers who come out regularly. If you can commit to helping out at least once a month, it would make a huge difference. Start this weekend for our work/play days from 9-1 p.m. on Saturday or from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday!
Also, coming up on Saturday, January 28th from 9-12 p.m. if our FIRST EVER VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION! (Get excited). This is for new and past volunteers. We will be sharing more about how to get involved in our garden's programs, from cooking with youth to growing food for those in need. We'll also be teaching basic gardening skills essential for volunteering at Community Roots, like planting seeds, harvesting, and preparing new beds to plant. These are useful tools for starting your own food-growing garden! Lunch will be provided for all at 12 p.m. Please RSVP to me at communityrootsgarden@gmail.com if you plan to attend, and pass it on to others interested.
One more thing - A generous donor has agreed to match up to $4,500 to support our Garden if we can raise this amount before January 31st, 2012! Will you help us? See our website at www.communityrootsgarden.org for more details and to donate.
Wishing this year brings joy and peace to you all,
Katerina
