AHG's Vision Statement
American Heritage Girls is the premier national character development organization for young women that encourages family involvement and embraces Christian Values.
Who we are...
American Heritage Girls is a Christ-centered, non-profit organization, dedicated to building women of integrity while offering a wholesome character and leadership development ministry for girls, ages 5 to 18. AHG was founded with the love of God … through the love of families … for the love of children.
AHG was founded by a group of parents wanting an all-girl program for their daughters. Since its start in 1995 in West Chester, Ohio, American Heritage Girls has grown from 10 Troops and 100 members, to nearly 400 Troops and more than 17,000 members, in 45 states. AHG also serves girls through its Trailblazer program in Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Puerto Rico and The Republic of Georgia.
“I promise to Love God, Cherish my family, Honor my country, and Serve in my community.”
♦ AHG has received requests to learn more about the program from all 50 states, several countries, and military bases around the world.
♦ AHG is a non-profit, Christ-centered organization choosing to receive no government or United Way funding in an effort to maintain its biblical basis.
♦ AHG membership has experienced phenomenal growth at a rate of 30-50% per year, impacting tens of thousands of girls in 16 years! AHG’s growing numbers have expanded influence on girls across the country by further developing their character and service-mindedness.
♦ AHG, since it’s inception, has established a laser focus on service, promoting it as one of the key building blocks of young women … “Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.”
♦ AHG members logged more than 170,670 service hours for the 2010-11 program year. The Troops participate in many different service opportunities, such as Compassion International, Cookies for Kairos Prison Ministries, HUGS Duffle Bags, Operation Christmas Child, Scouting for Food Drive, as well as many others.
♦ AHG offers many opportunities for personal growth through its age appropriate activities in its six program areas. AHG has 235 badge opportunities allowing girls to learn new life skills while setting goals and earning achievements.
♦ AHG has its own highest honor, the prestigious Stars and Stripes Award (like the BSA’s Eagle Scout award).
♦ AHG entered into a partnership with Boy Scouts of America by signing a Memorandum of Mutual Support in June of 2009. This is historic in nature as it is the first “MOMS” presented to an all girls’ organization in the one hundred year history of the Boy Scouts of America.
♦ AHG entered into other valuable partnerships with Veggie Tales, Secret Keeper Girls, iShine, Compassion International, Operation Christmas Child and Joni and Friends.
♦ AHG’s National Executive Director and Founder, Patti Garibay, has become a sought-after national spokesperson on teens and youth, receiving interview requests from such organizations as Family Research Council, American Life League, Focus on the Family, The Janet Parshall Show, Facing Life Head On, American Family Association and My Family Talk.
